I haven't been wearing shoes (and definitely not boots) lately since I rarely want to wear more than sandals when I leave the house, but I have had a couple occasions. Picked up these Plaza George boots from AoC's last call page. They're really nice! Also got the Copake Indys from AoM and I *love* them. Definitely one of my favorite buys. Also an Indy family photo because why not?
Great Indy's, great looking denim as well.

Anyone here used those glue on Vibram outsoles to protect/prolong the life of their leather soled shoes with any success? Seems to me like they'd keep peeling off and become more trouble than they're worth. Asking because I was planning on sending a pair in for this service to a well known cobbler, but second guessing it now as I might be better off just eating through the leather sole and getting them resoled properly with a commando.

Had them done on all my previous leather soles. Peeling as occurred once or twice. Doesn't work as well on the waterlock soles.

Yes. I do this to some shoes, usually ones which I want to wear without regard to the weather. Never had any of them peel off. I've never had it done to waterlock soles.
I actually prefer glued on Vibram lugged half soles and heels to Alden's commando. The Vibrams can be replaced as needed. A traditional resole is never required.

Which glue are you using?

For dress shoes I get sunken metal toe plates when I have them resoled for the first time. For shoes I definitely like leather soles for both the look and feel.

For boots I have both double leather and commando. I think double leather is so much more comfortable than commando. I wouldn't get metal toe plates on them because with double leather I figure the life of them is already long enough.

My wear pattern is the toe and outside of the heel FWIW. Others have different wear patterns so metal toe plates may not be as useful.
