I’ve always pronounced it “All-den”. Are you saying it’s “Al (Bundy)-den”?Cross post from the Indy thread...
I've only had a stranger identify my footwear twice that I remember and one was my Indy 403s. At my gun club, the pro asked, "Are those 'Allden' Indys?" It caught me by surprise, 1) for being completely out of the blue, and 2) pronouncing "Allden". It was the first time I heard someone say that name!
He went on to tell me why they're call Indys and that he'd been wanting a pair. I didn't stop him - he was happy as a lark. I did point him to Shoe Mart and told him they sometimes go on sale.
Glad to run into another Alden fan in-person.

I think this was discussed, last year on this thread, and I believe the consensus was ALLDEN, not Al (Bundy) Den.I’ve always pronounced it “All-den”. Are you saying it’s “Al (Bundy)-den”?
In my mind, I imagined Al-den. I was enlightened by this thread that it is actually All-den. I'm now firmly in the All-den camp.I’ve always pronounced it “All-den”. Are you saying it’s “Al (Bundy)-den”?
How stretchy is the Horween Chamois leather (oiled newbuck) ? Less stretchy than Chromexcel?
yes, it is about as stretchy as regular calfskin or suede, not as stretchy as Chromexcel. it’s a really cool leather, and I like the pair that I have oiled nubuck. I really only bought that pair because it happened to be available in my size - 7EEE - and it is really hard to find in-stock models in that size. So I took a chance and bought a pair of PTBs in tobacco oiled nubuck on lugged soles, and I actually really like them. I thought they might have sort of a senior citizen orthopedic shoe vibe, but they don’t, not at all. And I was worried that the leather might not be dressy enough for business casual, but it is such an obviously high-quality leather that the oiled nubuck PTB’s go perfectly khakis and a sport coat.
Is that Aden model 9431S? Those are definitely on my radar.
Nice score!Pretty lucky today I picked up a pair of 9070 at a
thrift store for $34. 10.5 C/A on the Hampton last.
Haven’t tried them on as I’m currently cleaning and conditioning but I’m a 10.5 D Brannock so let’s hope View attachment 1636336 they fit.
