Better than the Pantherella with the little silicone heel grippy things?
Sheec does use the silicone stuff. Have not tried the Pantherellas
Thanks for the heads-up, @James1051!
I just order a dozen in various cuts / colors (~$8-a-pair!).

I have both. Sheec socklets are not quite as luxurious as Pantherella, but at 1/3 the cost, they're a much better value. I cringe to pay $11-a-pair for these tiny bits of fabric. The $25-$27 per pair for Pantherella actually hurts.

Like others here, I've moved more & more to year-round wool socks for both comfort & moisture wicking. Pantherella offers wool blend no-shows. Sheecs are cotton blend. They both contain nylon and lycra.

These unlined BB loafers, recrafted by B Nelson in NY, are perfect with either Sheec or Pantherella no-shows...

July 2021: The Ultimate Suede Makeup

Gentlemen, I can not believe that we are now on the back half of 2021. It has been quite an interesting year, at least for me here! I wanted to kick off July 2021’s monthly topic. Take all the time that you need to think of your personal response, as you got all month to work on a post that suits you and captures your thoughts, so no need to rush to post a response today!

July is when the Northern Hemisphere starts to heat up and Suede is a great companion to the summer months. It is breathable, flexible, and soft and yet offers a nice sense of styling. So, to that end, what is your ultimate suede makeup and why? Are you all about them boots, shoes, or loafers? Lined or Unlined? Looking forward to a great dialog as there are so many different ways that one can go with this!!!

Please reply to this post to make your responses easier to see. Thank you so much and I very much look forward to seeing everyone’s thoughts this month!

This is a makeup I've proposed to an Alden stockist. They're willing to run it if I can find 4 or 5 interested parties other than myself.

· Plain toe boot pattern
· No pull tabs
· Barrie Last
· Reverse tobacco chamois upper
· Dark brown exposed eyelets, all eyelets, no speed hooks
· Double oak leather soles with combination toplifts (ie, Mcaffee heels)
· 360 degree pre-stitched reverse welt
· Antique colored welt
· Antique sole edge

If you're interested in this, please send me a direct message. I'm sure there will be a deposit needed if we get enough folks. I'm certain that out of the ordinary sizes will need to be paid in full in advance. It looks like the now normal Alden boot price is $640.

Anyone know of anywhere that sell thick no show socks instead of thin no show socks?
I have a pair of Smart Wool no shows that are considerably thicker than most others. I'm not even sure where I bought them but I would like more for the comfort.

And for every rule Alden makes, they sometimes violate it. Behold, the Hornet, an Alden LWB on Commando with a 270 welt. This is Regina grain made for Standard and Strange when they were carrying Alden.

Ha, seems about right. Sometimes it seems like they make the rules just so they can be broken. Enjoy the holiday weekend everyone.
