Thanks much guys, these were actually made around the Leydon Last. I would recommend getting your best fit size on a per last basis with the Leydon running fairly True-to-Size.

-Mike

Speaking about Mike’s wonderful Whiskey loafers, may I ask how you gentlemen size your Leydon lasted loafers? I wear my suede chukkas on the Leydon last TTS, but read on Brogue shop’s website that they recommend going with your Barrie size or even size down one half from your Barrie size(!) if you plan to wear the Leydon loafers with no/thin socks.

I wear 8E for Leydon unlined suede chukka, 8D for Leydon shoes and 7.5D for Leydon loafers...

I know it sounds weird but thats my experience.

Alden fun fact of the day - “DeRosa”.

Whether it be a cap toe, nst, u-tip or otherwise, Alden has many versions of the DeRosa Blucher. It is characterized by this particular heel counter/overlay with the rectangular stitching at the base of the heel.

DeRosa was the name of the guy who designed this pattern and that rectangle was his signature. Alden purchased the pattern from him in the 1940s or 50s and kept the name and the stitch signature as an homage.

Super interesting, thanks! I always wondered about that.
