It will work well. Black, cap toe and leather soles. You will be better shod than 99% of the people there. If you get an address with the President or the Queen you can revisit the subject.
My wife was very irritated in August and then December 2019 when we we visited and did not get an invitation for tea at any of the following: Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, or Balmoral Castle. How very rude!

True. Quite rude. Elizabeth is the one person who can actually answer the question, "Who died and made you the queen of England?"

It's, Her Majesty The Queen, to us peasants. And, I believe officially she is Elizabeth II.

At least our friends who live in London invited us out for dinner.

I had never seen this style before I saw them on eBay. They just arrived and I’m thrilled. Still need to condition and clean them.

Only if you're part of the Commonwealth. Americans just say Queen Elizabeth.

It might be more nuanced than that and I was referencing actually meeting her (based on my earlier post):

Months ago, I posted a question about what was Alden Kuda leather, got the Black Friday
IMG_5764.JPG
TSM seconds in that leather, ran the model number in Alden Model Project.......it's tobacco chamois, and I honestly think these are seconds of Adam's AoC-122. Hooks spaced a little apart right/left side, couple scuffs on shafts, other than that can't find much wrong. But they are boots, so who cares

Is the black calfskin 971 Cap Toe Blucher dressy enough to wear with a navy or gray suit to weddings/funerals/etc. or does one really need an oxford?

I have never been a huge fan of the oxford. I appreciate the style but long and narrow shoes do not look good on me (or really work with my foot).

Hello

I believe that an oxford is something you might need. A plain black oxford just match perfectly a suit in gray / navy / black.

There is a fantastic thread https://www.styleforum.net/threads/the-quintessential-dress-shoe-black-cap-toe-oxford.362365/page-97#post-10478721

First, most people wouldn't notice the difference.

That said, I wouldn't wear a blucher with a suit. But, I'm a lawyer, so I dress more formally for work when required. I haven't been required for months now, except two zoom depositions. Yes, I did wear oxfords with a suit and tie for those even though I was only visible from the sternum up. I wear my black oxfords the least often. I prefer dark brown with grey and oxblood with navy. I rarely appear before a judge, so black oxfords rarely make an appearance.

I also don't think black bluchers are needed at all. With odd trousers I frequently wear bluchers, loafers, monks, or boots, almost always in dark or lighter brown suede, calf, or cordovan, color #8 cordovan, or even hunter green suede.

When I used to go to the office I wore a suit twice a week on average and odd trousers and a jacket the other three, with a casual Friday a couple times a month if I had no meetings scheduled.
