sizing question:

I own 3 pairs of Aldens in my very modest collection
-LWB in tan calfskin
-PTB in whiskey
-U-tip boot in black shell

They are all on barrie last and all the same size. For some odd reason the u-tip boots feel a tad bigger on me. The "ball" of my foot is at the widest point of the shoe, but I feel like these are slightly longer and roomier. Is this my mind playing tricks on me? Or do boots in the same last tend to "feel" bigger? I am planning on going to my retailer and trying on a half size down in barrie just to see what it feels like. I have worn the LWB for the past 2 years without any issue and the PTB feel perfect on me.

Some leather questions of stuff I was thinking about the past few days:

1- Anyone knows which tannery makes the leather for the Alden Vintage Indy from Leathersoul? It's an Oiled Nubuck but I have rarely seen mentions of tannery names outside Horween and CF Stead in their model descriptions, so I assume it's one of those, but maybe they don't mention it when its another one?

2- Does Alden only work with a fixed amount of leathers at a time? I know there is quite a large variety including all the collaboration models, but they usually always seem to use the same leathers until one runs out and replace with something similar it seems.

I wonder why I have never seen Alden stuff with some other popular CF Stead leathers like Kudu and Waxy Commander since they already have a relation with them, but maybe they just don't see their styles working with those?

Oiled nubuck is another name for smooth tobacco chamois, which is a horween leather.

I haven’t seen many new “405” pics lately. Would like to see if the pumpkin tone is totally gone...
Posted mine not too long ago here - from 2019. Def not pumpkin at all.

I took a chance on the LHS style & on shell at the same time. I’ve always been a loafer guy, long before I even ventured into gyw etc., the LHS style always came off as frumpy-ish and cordovan honestly has never caught my interest either. So this loafer overall was a gamble. Within the first month of wearing the LHS shell loafer, I was completely convinced on the once perceived frumpy loafer lol. As far as cordovan goes....I’m now on the fence, but find it to be very finicky. I’m not sure if I’d purchase another pair of cordovan, I think I need bit more time w/ my shell LHS to determine whether or not I appreciate shell. Nonetheless, these loafers are never leaving my wardrobe. Overall I love this makeup. I love this loafer so much, I purchased another pair in dark brown suede.

Time to get out of the house with Mrs. smfdoc for a drive and then lunch. Since it was 27 degrees this morning it seems like boots would be a no brainer.
