Thanks to @Aarondb4 for selling these, seem to be in great condition.These are my first Aldens and not sure if its because they are used, but they feel like they fit perfectly, the leather feels very soft.

Agreed - color 8 can be underrated in the quest for rare shell.

Agreed when I was initiated into the world of alden I was focused primarily on the rare shell now Color 8 dominates my rotation.

Standard & Strange doesn't seem to have much Alden inventory any longer, which is a shame as they had some unique make ups.

Put this together some months ago, and just arrived. Very pleased with the result for an alternative to 990.

Specs: Military last (379X), D width , #8, matching eyelets, Single leather sole

A little ceegar Sunday in St. Louis. Haven't worn these in a long time, but they still fit like a glove.

Wearing the 405's and just sold a couple of old sewing machines (refurbishing is another hobby) to a lady, who I recognized as our retired Postmaster. After loading them in her car, she told me "you know, at the Post Office we knew you as 'the shoe guy' because of all the shoe's that come and go.......
