Having posted the other day that I got my first pair of Indy's on a trip to the US I am now a full convert. Just perfect for my feet, I cannot believe I have waited so long and I will admit that previously I never understood all the praise, I do now. A lot of my other shoes will now be finding new homes.

It means that now I am going to try and search for a pair of 8 Shell Indies in a 10.5E (my plan is to wear them in all weathers here in the north of England), if anyone can help me in this quest I will be eternally grateful. European stockists are almost impossible to find and cost a fortune, US stores wont ship to the UK so a previously owned pair seems my only chance. Thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction,

Reach out to these guys and see if they can help. They are in the US, but very knowledgeable and helpful.

I was just thinking that we haven't seen you around the thread in a while. Sorry to see that pair of loafers need a new home. Even more sorry there's no chance they'd fit me! The #8 Indy's you posted look pretty great. They will be a good foil to those awesome Indy's you picked up earlier this year. Uhm, maybe you could post them and get Matt and Jim to run a build? Y'know, for science!
Toe only comes up to where my finger rests - thinking these need a down-size from 11.5 to 11.

Definitely looks like sizing down is needed. Don't forget that you also want to size for where the arch of your foot is. If the widest part of your foot is already at the widest part of the shoe, this may be your best size. Generally speaking, you want to size to whichever part of your foot is proportionally is longer; you heel- to- ball or heel- to- toes. If your ratio is way off, seek a store for try on sessions. If you do not have a stockist nearby, work with one over the phone to have a couple likely sizes shipped to you.

You could also see if you can find someone (or use a service) willing to proxy them for you and ship them to the UK. If you go that route, I would check alden of madison, the shoe mart, alden of DC and the alden shop in San Francisco. All four of those shops tend to stock E widths.
