This week, I hit a personal milestone: when I signed up as a member of this site 6 months ago, I only owned a single pair of Aldens (my trusty 15-year-old 994s); this week, I was able to wear a different pair of Aldens to the office every day.

My collection is still tiny compared to many of the regulars here, but I'm very happy to have hit this milestone, and I look forward to the day when I can wear a different pair of Aldens every day for an entire week (and then two weeks, a month, and so on).

If you'll allow me to indulge myself, here's the recap:

Monday: Alden x Leffot Dearborns:

Wow, you are winning. That is a fantastic collection my friend. Your old faithfuls are fantastic!

Beautiful LWBs. Those are such a nice combo with the antique and Brass Hardware.

Killer!

Thanks @audog

They went straight to my feet for date night with the Mrs.

These are my first pair of Alden suede, and I don’t believe they’ll be my last. ☺
Those are fantastic and one of the best Suede models out there...

High five.

Careful. Alden suede is as addictive as shell...
True words right there... the 1339 is another true classic.

Walked the dog last night and had to put on a jacket. Know what means? Boot time baby! Broke the boots out of storage and arranged the rack so that they can assume their rightful place in the pecking order of things.....

I have a self-imposed limit of 7, because that is all I have room for.....

Unfortunately my summer haul has taken me over, in addition to a couple in the basement, there's these, relegated to the closet floor under my sweaters.....

Boot time baby. The only good thing about seeing summer come to a close.
Haha. The stash struggle is real.

Prof, those Whiskey LHSes are amazing. Looking great all around!

So, opinion time. I have a chance to pick up a pair of brown scotch grain LWBs. I love the leather, but I have not seen them posted here before. Antique edges on commando from B+M. The top picture is the actual shoe. The bottom is from the website. Opinions?

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of scotch grain (except as an accent), but with the commandos and antique edges, that's a killer makeup right there.

I like pebbled leathers, though not huge on the commando, but those are so you.

I look at the 2nd pic and the words 'life is good' instantly come to mind. Killer as always Mr. Mayor.

I like wings on others, just not for me. My only pair is the snuff commando from AoC and I have been considering these for quite some time. To me, that is one of Aldens coolest non-shell offerings.

I'm not a wing guy, but love scotch grain. In my opinion, those are winners, casual yet not if that makes sense.

OK, I know I'm almost 66 years old and that must be the reason, but I keep going to Adams "last chance" site and looking at the AoC-3 Navy and White saddle shoe. I don't need them at all, and would probably only wear them 1 or 2 times a year, but there is something about the white shoe with the blue accent that is "calling me". So the question is this, am I nuts or just old? Or both I suppose.

Age is nothing, brother. Buy and wear what you like, regardless of the frequency. And enjoy the heck out of them!

Doc, if you like the classic shoe look, which you obviously do, then the pebbled longwing is pretty much the ultimate.
Google "classic longwing" images and what you will mostly see is 1960s pics of brown/tan pebbled by florsheim, hanover, bostonian, alde, etc.... all the v-cleat heavy hitters. Im not a big commando fan because I tend to destroy the edges, but i would get those for sure. Those look killer.
