My parents gifted me this old box which I guess had been in our family for awhile and I only recently had the idea to use it for my shoe care stuff. Very happy with it.

This happens to all my commando soles. Krazy glue makes a flexible gel glue. Works great and is easier to control than the liquid kind. Be careful and tape off the area you don't want to get glue on. My advice is to fix it asap. once they start to come unglued they wear much much faster.

What about Gorilla Glue? It's a water activated glue and is stronger than damn near anything. I have repaired everything from children's toys to door frames with it. I am fortunate that none of my Commando sole boots have started to "delaminate", but Gorilla glue would be the thing I would try first.

Is there a flexible, long lasting adhesive that would work in that area? Other than silicone adhesive?

Gorilla Glue dries stiff and expands a bit.

Barge cement. Barge Infinity Cement is the best for shoes.
