Thanks! “Big” was used in a tongue-in-cheek, self deprecating way as there is nothing particularly notable about the number, and it certainly does not put me anywhere close to the upper age brackets on this site (or in real life).

The Snuff Tassels were the red pill, and now is the time for the blue pill. You know, they say one shouldn't quit the medicine until the pill bottle is finished :)

I knew how you intended the “big” and I thought it was funny. Enjoy those mid 30s while they are there. Congrats on the great birthday gift. That is the only way you get what you really want.

Chronologically I may be near the upper age bracket on this site (65), but mentally I'm still 36 (or as my wife says sometimes 16). Keep up the good work, as when you get to my age, I probably won't be on this thread any more and someone will have to be the "upper age bracket".

I would generally recommend taking your Barrie/Trubalance size on 379X. Compared to Barrie, it has a slightly narrower heel and midfoot but a wider toe box. It grips your foot better due to the heel, but gives your toes plenty of room.

I’m dying to get my hands on a pair of lighter (exotic) shell models. What’s the best method? Years ago I put myself on a waitlist at shoemart but with no results.
Also, do they usually retail at the same price as color 8 and black? There are a few pairs in my size on eBay but in the $1500 range

Get on waitlists at SF and DC, it takes time but that's the most reliable way.

Will they put me on the waitlist with just a phone call?

You will have to email or call and ask to be put on the list for specific models that you're interested in. SF is only making plain toe bluchers, longwings, and chukkas, in addition to some loafers, I believe. If you need the model numbers or makeups they do, PM me with what you're interested in specifically. DC is making more things, but after Kathy retired I'm not sure exactly how they're handling the lists. Typically you can call and ask to be put on the list for specific models.
