Hello all, I know this might be a difficult and oft asked question but here it goes.... I am wear a 12D in all Allen Edmonds tie shoes and an 11.5D in AE loafers(shell).

I've never tried on an Alden loafer but I have heard Alden shoes run big. I have the opportunity to purchase an 11D Alden for Brooks shell LHS loafer (not unlined!), but am concerned it may be too small. Can anyone give me some advice on the fit or direct me from personal experience?

    Thanks!

Nice! Thanks for providing the picture. Your picture is going to have to make due until I get home from work. Luckily, work is only 5 minutes away.

What lasts are your "tie shoes" and loafers on for AE? I'm going to preeeety much say 11D will be a no-go, but if we have those data points we can help compare AE to Alden better.

Tie shoes are mainly 65 last (Cambridge, Park Ave, Fifth Ave, etc.) basically everything in that last, all Shell. Calf is the same size for me. Fits pretty well I think.
Leeds and Dalton in 12D, all shell, I believe the 511 last. My one pair of Leeds is custom MTO seconds so it might a different last.
Grayson and Randolph both shell - 11.5D
Patriot in unlined suede (Club Monaco special) - 11.5D

Sounds like you'll need 11.5D for Van, so I'd pass.
Van is typically taken in your Barrie size (half down from TTS). Since your Randolphs and Patriots are 11.5D, I think you'd suffer at 11D and sale at a loss later.

Those look good. A unique comment: I like the rolls on that pair (specifically the right shoe)
There's some cool boots there...too bad not my size!

Great news, audog. Truly great news. I hope she heals quickly and resumes a normal routine soon.

The forum moderator needs to pull this post down - it’s downright obscene.

RTP, I’ve missed you around here. I’m glad to know you are still rocking some classics. Hope you are great.

Yes, the rolls on these 990s almost look like cap toes. Thanks!
