Sharp - esp. like the laces w/your khakis.

Thank you. I questioned the laces but they are pretty much spot on the stitch. Oh and the wife liked it and that's a plus :)

Other than the flat vs. storm welt, I think the other differences are pretty subtle - maybe a slightly different thread color. That is pretty much the answer to your question: retailers can get exclusive designs, but you don't have to do too much to come out with a variant. As Alden has added more stockists, I think the slightly-different thing has been done more (may just be my noob perception). There are also a few models that seem shared between some of the smaller stockists (e.g. Lawrence Covell).
That's what I'm seeing in places as well. The only difference I see between my AoC's #8 Shell Chukkas and Unionmade's is UM's has agatine eyelets, where mine have none.

View attachment 820045 My first venture into the plaza last, E width. Thus far, the absolute best fit for me among Aldens. And I have a thing for soft square lasts :)

I love me some plaza last. They say TTS but I wear 11.5 D in Plaza as well as Barrie though the Barrie doesn't fit like a glove as the plaza does.

I have been wondering if people on the glove appreciation threads praise their new purchase by saying "It fits like a shoe!"
