Alden is 8.5 d (Barrie last of course) and the Marlow is 9D us). Both fit very well!
@mosy I was really hoping you were going to say they were the same size. I have a 10D Marlow on the way and my Barrie size is 10D. Really don't want to sell the Marlow...

Yes, get both.

This will help. "Honey, yes they are both black, but they are completely different shoes. I had to get both. The Marlow is made of calf and is a Dover. See how the back half of the shoe is sewn to the front half of the shoe? And the Marlow has eyelets for that more casual vibe. The Alden is made from shell. Yes, shell cordovan, which is just the best type of leather. Cows just wish they could produce shell, but God made them for eating. Horses were made for kick-ass westerns and the best shoes. And the Aldens are a true plain toe blucher. The upper is made from one piece of leather and not two like the dover. Very different. And Alden gave the PTB a more elegant appearance by not including those eyelets. See, I did have to get both. It really wasn't optional. Sorry, but I don't make the rules about things like this."
As, @mdubs - Mike said, good luck with that.

Good luck with that one... Alden DC does do an Unlined Black Shell Dover. You could just add eyelets... :)

-Mike

I believe that Tassels or another retailer in Asia recently ordered some black shell dovers with black exposed eyelets :)
