The 511 is too tight for me at 7.5 EEE, and 8 EEE is too long and still too tight. Barrie at 7.5E is snug but not uncomfortable. For some reason, the 975 consistently fits more roomy than the 990.

Just curious but how does their backlog/waitlist process work for the rare shell runs? Do they go by any particular system to decide which vendor gets what color, or is it simply by the order date?

My understanding and what I figure to happen is:

    - Vendors request certain custom make-ups, which may include rare shell
    - Alden makes these special requests as they come in, on a timeline that works to ensure they meet orders for their catalog models
    - Rare shell make ups are made based on the availability of the skins
    - Which vendors get which rare shell make-ups seem to be on a rotation basis (i.e. AoSF, AoM, Leffot, TSM will get one or two rare shell makeups at a time). No one vendor gets a disproportionate amount of their requests compared to others.

Alternatively, I imagine Alden will get some stock and call preferred vendors. Something along the lines of "Hi, we have enough Cigar to make a run of 12 boots. Are you interested and what makeup would you like."

Thanks Gents. They were made in 2012 for TSM. A fellow forum member had them sitting around BNIB.

The shade is a very classic Alden Ravello. In between old Whiskey and #4. Very much like Brandy, which, is what one may expect from that time frame.

I am a bit perplexed about the fit of these. I have had 3 other shell cordovan shoes from Alden in size 10E that fit very well. However, these are 10E and are a bit tight.

Alden boots fit smaller than shoes IME.

    Hopefully they will break in.

    Thanks.

This is definitely my experience with Alden Barrie last shell cordovan boots. They fit smaller than my 990 or 975.

I am wearing them around on the hoof w/o creasing the uppers and I think they may work well actually.
