Ha, just because I love that movie - here's one photo for now.
Love the shortwing bal!
If my MA in Aldenology serves correctly, these are the fabled mahogany shell cordovan short wing balmorals on Aberdeen aka AF 2. A SMU commissioned by Adam Knott for AOC some 15-20 years ago?
Am I correct Sir?
Leffot Cooney boots on their maiden voyage...
@BenLeaman Damn, I still want these.
You are correct.
The Alden Army Air Force salutes you Sir:
^ That's (ch)Air Force.
I realize that mahogany shell cordovan is really a variation on the Ravello-whiskey-old Cigar theme. However, the color appears to be more versatile than ruby (#2) and possibly even the fan-favorite #4.
What do people think about mahogany compared to other colors of shell?
Personally, I would rather have pebble grain #8 shell than most other rare shell colors. But that is related to the fact that I actually wear the heck out of shoes in non-light shell.
By the way, did anyone pick up single piece shell belts from Horween? They look awesome!
It's hard to say, given the amount of color variation over the years that you see in Ravello, Cigar, and Whiskey.
Mahogany seems to be most similar to Ravello, although I'd say that these days Mahogany shell is darker and deeper (see the recent Enzo Bonafe makeups and the Viberg Mahogany shell boots) than it used to be, like most shell colors, it seems.
I agree with this. I have 2 pairs of Indys, and for my feet, the Barrie provides more volume for my high instep in the toe box. Barrie fits me almost perfectly, Trubalance is a little sloppy but with thicker socks ok.
Love these, an amazing casual boot.
I think of mahogany as a true mid-brown, as opposed to ravello which is a mid brown with normally some reddish tones. of course I've seen ravello look completely brown as well. maybe mahogony is most similar to the "brown" that C&J uses
Recent Horween Mahogany is one of the most unique shades I have handled.
They are actually lightening very quickly. The example that I have is best summarized as being between #8 and Ravello.
Not quite color 6 or 4. Somewhere in between.
