There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Peppercorn, that's pretty typical

Cigar NST, size 10EE from Leffot. Best fitting Aberdeen I have experienced out of the box. Great shade of cigar (not sure it property shows up in the photos)

I now have 403, 9751 and 990 on order in EE width. Thanks to the Moulded Shoe guys for fitting me properly

Anyone have any thoughts on the color 8 tanker on commando... Trubalance v. barrie?? Awfully tempted to pull the trigger on the Epaulet makeup while they have my size, but I think I prefer the barrie version. Maybe a while before the barrie version is restocked in any of the retail stores.

Trubalance makes it more of a casual boot IMO - the Barrie color 8 tanker can go very well with slacks and a blazer - Trubalance less so

As far as the cigar NST, I believe they did a small run - i was in the store earlier in the year and they mentioned it. I know Alden Madison also has done it in the past five years or so

Barrie is a bit large and in charge as well.

I'd bought it if I could have found an 11.5D at Epaulet!

I guess it depends on how you want to use it. I think a #8 barrie is the perfect mix of sleek and chunk, allowing it broader play on the casual/business/formal spectrum. TB is pretty much all chunk, and just doesn't do it for me outside of casual and the casual end of business casual. For whatever reason, I love the hand-stitching on Barrie but not so much on TB.
(FWIW - I love my Indys)
My sartorial instincts wouldn't buy you a crappy cup of coffee though...

Check CitiShoes. They have a Barrie version. Commando sole, 360 storm welt, speed hooks.

I'd like to add color matched metal eyelets to a #8 shell Alden boot. Can anyone recommend a cobbler who does this by putting in a smooth ring on both sides (just like it comes from the Alden factory) rather than one with a star-shaped cut of the metal eyelets on the inner side? I've found on other boots that the star shaped eyelets scratch up and cause wear on the tongue.

    Beautiful !!
I like the color of your cigar better than mine
It's very interesting to see how Alden make cigar shades different for each retailer.
See attached cigar NST made for city shoes

    Great looking NST !

How would you guys qualify the color below ? Got them 3 months ago from a Parisian shop, told me it was "cigar", but I see it's very different from the dark chocolate Alcibiades have on his cordovan shell. Is it because it's on calfskin ?

I have worked for Skomaker Dagestad, and while it's true that almost all make ups has been marked with m, the most recent was actually a d.

Alden doesn't do that intentionally - it just depends on how each batch of shell turns out
Those look like calf (technically the retailer shouldn't have called them cigar) - what's the model number? Nice shoes though

Those are M3407, supposedly based on a British officer's model of the 1940s / 1950s.
They also sell them in black, which was looking pretty good (very understated classy look).
I can't say what last they are on, I made a cobbler put a undersole protection at the front (same kind the french police motorcycle squad is using, very anti slippery).

Has anyone worn the plaza last in the same length size as barrie, but a size wider? e.g. 10.5D barrie and 10.5E Plaza
