1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I'd call or email, but my understanding is a past reheel isn't what they have objections to - it is more like a half-sole, etc

Does anyone else find that the raised heel lining in Aldens makes their heel sore after a few hours? Even after some of mine cave in a bit, I can't help but feel like they'd be more comfortable if they were just concave.

That is correct. Heels are not an issue for restoration.

No - metal shank means you have to take them off pretty much 100%of the time. I travel a lot. I wear AE on travel days and Alden is in the bag...

    Yep.

I mentioned that awhile back when I got my first pair of Alden boots.

I was having a problem with the heel rocking/pivoting on the front of the heel(because the back of the heel was 1/16" off the ground) and transmitting that force right up through the insole to the front of my heel..

Someone gave me the great idea of bending the boot downward to lessen that effect by getting more even heel contact and it is working. Today was better.

Once the heel wears a bit I hope it is totally eliminated.

I have commado soles. But Alden's commando sole "nubs" are quite short compared to other commando soles I have.

So I found these in a thrift store a couple of days ago. They fit magically well and are in near perfect condiiton (the marks are from me). They are the reverse chamois Indy boot with a crepe sole. These were made for J. Gilbert stores according to the embossing on the inner heel. I keep my eyes peeled for great shoes whilst I comb for collectibles and generally I see vintage British made brogues but rarely in good condition or my size (10.5). When I saw these I started looking around to find the hidden camera.
The price tag said $25 dollars CDN and as luck would have it all shoes were 50% off as well.
Thats gotta be some kind of record right? $12.50?
Take a look at them and if anyone is able could you please confirm they are the 405 model and if there is any other info to be gleaned from the inner stamp I would love to hear it. These wonderful, wonderful boots are very appreciated in my stable.

    Great thrift!

Those would be the Indy in Reverse Chamois leather, Model number is the 40551H on the inside, a variation based of the 405 but the 405 is made in brown calf leather. Not sure what retailer those are from though, looks like J Gilbert once made them.
