1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

^ The squared off nature of the U-stitch makes me think TruBalance. Barrie U-stitches tend to be more curved.

Agree - I've never seen the boxy stich on anything but TruBalance. I'd also tend to trust the Alden folks over a stockist...

If Alden says it's Trubalance, it's Trubalance. Retailers don't always know what they're talking about (see, e.g., J.Crew's "Horween Chromexcel shell cordovan upper").

Plus, that stitch shape is always indicative of Trubalance. The last shape is also a giveaway - too rounded to be Barrie.

Looking for some opinions. Thinking about thinning my collection out a bit. Which would you guys keep Epaulet Ironside Indys or Leathersoul Vintage Indy?

Alden is accepting GMTOs again? [IMG]

Any limitations on the models and leathers?

It's more like a retailer is agreeing to submit a run of 12 pairs if they are committed. I don't think you can do them in any rare shells (I mean, you could if the retailer and Alden agreed, but it would be a very very long time for the order to come in). Most Alden shell runs are for 12-24 pair now. Some rare shell runs are only 6 pairs.

My latest acquisition - Frans Boone black shell NST boot on Barrie, lace on leather eyelets, Commando sole. This was my first purchase from Frans Boone and likely won't be the last. Terrific service - three days from order to delivery in NJ. They also included Alden shoe trees at no extra cost. With the favorable EUR/USD exchange rate, the all-in price including shipping and clearance costs was $55 less than what Context is charging for a similar boot.
