1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Does anyone have any photos of Alden tan suede in the wild please (preferably the unlined chukka)? On some of the stock photos it looks very light indeed on some others it appears a darker tan. What are members views who have this shade and how does it compare with snuff which I have in the PTB. Thanks

Here is a suede family that I took a while ago. The V-tips are snuff and the PT boots are Tan, the color in this photo is pretty true to color.

IMHO, I think Snuff is much easier to pair with different outfits. Hope it helps!

    Good morning all,

I'm looking for some advice. The other day on the train the woman in front of me was using a Tide ToGo pen on the cuff of her shirt, and of course, she dripped it right down the front of my new chromexel slip-on's. Is there a way to get this stain out or do I have to go buy another pair? Much appreciated if anyone has some advice.

    Thank you,
    -C

Many thanks, the tan look almost white rather than the pale yellow I hoped for.

I would definitely buy another pair. That, or go to the shoe care thread.

Wife is starting to yell though. I have a dozen or so pairs, some never worn. Thanks for the help.

Sorry to hear that! CXL is pretty absorbent so if you don't get it off sooner rather than later I'm afraid the Tide will have soaked into the leather.

Thanks again, I will be on a rare visit to the US next week so I will pop into one of the NY stores and see some in the flesh as it where.

Alden on Madison have 5-6 suede unlined chukkas in stock. And several other suede shoes to see the colors.

Thanks! It's actually a Stowa, on a navy Hodinkee Horween shell strap.

I love Nomos, my wife has an Orion rose, but for a 'base' Bauhaus rendition I actually prefer Stowa's all-numeral dial with slightly different font.

Darn that's what you get from doing stuff on your phone.
Well then....I dig the Stowa! Looks great. I'll have to check the difference in fonts between the two on my laptop.

I've been eyeing the new Orion Neomatik myself, kind of wish they didn't do the small baby blue numbering but at the same time kind of like it lol

I am in Seattle for work, so I stopped by Brick+Mortar yesterday and got to meet Yenni. Her shop is full of really awesome makeups, and she's clearly got a **lot** of ideas. Honestly, I was surprised how many unique Alden shoes she had.

It was awesome to meet her - she's great!
