About a thumb nail.
I easily have 1-1.5" of deadspace in front of my big toe, even though my heal-to-toe is 1/2 size longer than yours in the same length shoe. Any ideas why that is?

Here's picture which I posted a few weeks ago showing the size difference between the 9.5D shoe and my 10D foot:

oregon hill indy boots from need supply co. for casual friday:

i really like the texture of the reverse chamois. not that i need another pair of boots (haha, how many times have i said that?) in reverse chamois, but wearing these boots reminded me that standard & strange has a pre-order going for a plain toe boot in reverse tobacco chamois. might not have room for both boots in the rotation, though.

on a related note, does anyone happen to know where i could find out more information about the chamois/reverse chamois leather? i've looked around on the internet but haven't had a lot of luck. would like to read up, if possible.

I've looked too - there is very little out there, nothing to read up on. Chamois is oiled nubuck. Reverse chamois is an oiled roughout leather. Both require very little maintenance. Not much more to be found on it, sadly.

As I was walking down Market in SF tonight in my black shell LWBs, I saw a guy wearing a pair of Indys...and it made me smile. It's the little things.

One last cleanup of the season. My two favorites - AoDC Cigars and Leffot Navals.
Lovely patina! May I ask what shoe care products you've used on those two pairs of boots?

Thanks! Mostly just a damp cloth and brushing every few wears. I apply Reno after about 25 wears or when they really need it. The cigar boots get a lot more wear, so I try to treat them a little more often. I've used VSC on the Naval boots, but they get Reno more often. Other than that I just wear them without too much worry. I avoid sloppy mud and standing water, but rain and snow are totally alright with me (with the commando sole).

Thanks for sharing, amazing what brushing and some Reno can do. I've been debating whether to use Saphir cordovan creme (neutral) or Alden's paste wax in addition to the Reno, but your pictures make me think I should go the minimalistic way.
