1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

Fok on behalf of the entire Styleforum team

Yes, Alden restoration will refinish the uppers. Not guarantee they can remove 100% of the stains but will definitely look much better.

Wait. I don't get it. You put them on your FEET?? Then what?? You use them cover your feet and walk around in them? OUTSIDE, too?

Someone explain this to me. I'm a noob.

I think @mdubs should include a "how to walk in your Alden shoes" instructional video in the first post of this thread. We could all learn his no-crease secrets.

    We figured out that either:

    1) he marches by pulling his knees straight up and down

    2) he actually floats around on miniature clouds.

    3) he spends a lot of time buffing and "boning" the creases out of them after each wear.

    Personally, I choose to believe #2. ;)

In my limited experience with calf as opposed to shell, it is VERY difficult to dye a shoe a lighter color to remove a darker stain. I have only been successful in dyeing a shoe darker to cover darker stains. The work was successful, but the overall shoe was now darker.

    This is on fire!

Don't feel like creating a new post, so I'll ask my questions here: what would be a more versatile shoes to own first

The Epaulet Innsbruck LWB or Snuff Suede Chukka?

Someone was asking about crepe. B. Nelson added some crepe soles to these. Basically, glued a strip of crepe to the midsole. No front leather part and I don't trip or anything, So not sure that alden's leather toe serves a purpose. Then, he added the heels. The heels are just 2 crepe heel stacks that are glued on. I'm wearing down the first heel part already. One more to go!

    4) He puts them on for a picture and takes them off without ever walking around in them.
