    ^^ @ steviecakes, I'm 6'1" and ordered a medium. I feel like the length would've been fine if I was 7" shorter.

This gives me hope for the Alt A shirts then notwithit, I never thought being tall and in shape would make finding clothes even harder =P

Wait, I thought Uniqlo was opening up in SF first, not LA?

Ive actually found that gap has toned down the americana a bit, Im happy to have found Suddenlee to proxy some uniqlo though. Looks like my next step is to research what size I would be in uniqlo (im thinking XL if that will even fit) Off to the uniqlo thread for me!

This is pretty much what I had hoped for for this thread, not anything too serious, and not anything too geared toward one aesthetic! hopefully I can keep things from getting too ugly up in here!

    SO SAD,

Uniqlo would male SF even better than it is now when I visit, would go bi-weekly/monthly :nodding:

RFX, good to hear we are getting one, but seems like LA will still be first in line :sad face!:

I think a distinction needs to be drawn between cheap and a good deal. Uniqlo oxfords are a good deal if they fit you, the material is awesome for the price. and depending on how they fit you they can look just as good as an expensive oxford. on the other hand, most of the GAP clothes I've ever handled look and feel cheap as hell and I really wouldn't kop regardless of how cheap.

also, Hanes "perfect fit" t shirts have pretty decent materials. size up and wash/dry a few times for a decent fit (unless you're tall).

well you mentioned you are 6 ft+ and 200 lb+, which is what I consider the 3 mentioned brands really "cater to" in terms of fit.
@ 5'10/150lbs size small is rather large on me still.

Not that is at all a bad thing, or one being better than the other. Just pointing out that people should find what fits their body type first, and don't just hope for something cheap/low in price.

what they need to do is set up a friggin US webstore already. suddenlee is great and everything...but still would be preferable

Doesn't make any sense to me why uniqlo has no US online store

I've had two theories on this

    1. They don't think there is enough demand outside of the "fashionable cities" for them, so they are hesitant until there is more demand outside of their big consumer base

    2. Its more of a logistics and stock related thing. They need some central shipping location or a warehouse filled with stock to ship from, if they just shipped from the stores stock it would create a logistical mess.

But yea I agree completely, I'm just afraid once this happens we will see uniqlo become the next jcrew on the styleforum hype meter

    i'm okay with that
i still need clothes to wear

what would happen is if the quality drops down, which i would hate to see happen.

so, i am content at the moment paying a "premium"/proxy to get the items if it means saving quality and not hitting the mainstream.

It might also be worth using this thread to list some of the random gems at otherwise unremarkable stores. Examples:

AA: tri-blend baby rib cardigans, baby rib thermal henleys

UO: "PE" tanks, third-party brands (Alternative Apparel, Gant Rugger, APC) on sale

H&M: underwear, the occasional sport coat, and I think someone said they get some decent t-shirts in every so often (I can't vouch for this last part)
