I thought I'd start a general 2008 NFL season thread before the Redskins thread gets polluted with Cowgirls, Iggles, and Jints fans.

The season has already been pretty surprising. The Patriots still look like the Patriots even without Brady. Aaron Rodgers is demonstrating that the Packers made the right choice in letting him take over. And what's up with all the 0-2 teams that looked like they might be serious contenders?

Rodgers is, imo, already in the top 3 qb's.

So far Aaron Rogers has played The Vikes & The Lions. I'll reserve my opinion on him until he plays at least a mediocre defense. The Lions D just made Matt Ryan look like Joe Montana recently.

I agree that we won't really know about him until some team throws real and consistent pressure at him. I'm frankly shocked that teams haven't been bringing the house. In consecutive pre-season games, Rodgers failed to recognize corner blitzes. I expect the cowboys to throw a few at him.

i cant tell if the dallas d is good or not. they didnt get much pressure on mcnabb and they give up too many big plays.

I wonder if the Titans and the Cardinals are regretting passing on Jay Cutler to select Vince Young and Matt Leinart, respectively.

Packers or Cowboys, who do u like.

im leaning towards dallas currently because of their massisve edge in the running game. both offenses are explosive, but i think that barber can keep GB off of the field for big chunks of time and wear out that GB D. knowing dallas though, they will get bored and just air one out to TO and end the drive sooner...

I have ARodgers on one of my fantasy teams and being a 'skins fan I'd love to see the cowgirls get thumped.
Unfortunately I don't think that's going to happen.
I don't think ARod will handle the pressure the girls will bring.
I also don't think the GB defense can contain the girls once they get all hot and bothered.
33-24 girls.

I'm still skeptical about the Patriots. The Patriots defense was getting old last season, and they needed to run up the score so as to not expose their defense. If an opponent is down by twenty points before the half, this limits the opponent's offense and allows the Patriots defense to sit back and wait for passes without worrying about the run.

This season, the Patriots defense is one year older and even more vulnerable, especially with their secondary. With a healthy Tom Brady, I thought NE was still going to win but have to do it in shoot out games where the score was 35-31 or something like that. Right now, the Patriots defense still appears stout but that's because the season is early. But, after the punishment of some more games, I expect their age to catch up to the Patriots defense as we start to see them give up more and more points. And, then, that's when we'll really see the Patriots miss Tom Brady.

I'm pretty skeptical about Matt Cassell. He played so poorly in mop up duty last year that the Patriots had to reinsert Brady into those games. And, Cassell had played so poorly during the off-season that the Patriots had seriously considered cutting him.

If I was a betting man, I'd take the Dolphins with the spread NE is getting; we're not talking about last year's NE team. I figure even if NE defense mauls Miami, Pennington is still going to
lead Miami to at least 10 or 14 points. That would mean NE would need to score 27 to cover that spread, and I'm not sure Cassell can do that even if NE wins.

Sweet, sweet karma. Looks like Miami took out a lot of pent-up frustration against the Patsies. Get used to it, Billy B.

That might be the most dominating game I've ever actually seen the Eagles defense play. And that flying swipe by Dawkins....
