Are these getting uncool? I mean i have a north face denali fleece jacket and a north face mountain light parka. Being from Nyc, everyone wears north face in winter season. I havent worn my north face this whole year b/c I wear my kenneth cole peacoat. I mean north face is expensive, but everyone wears them now. Opinions?

They were never cool. Young girls, generally from Long Island or Westchester, wearing sweatpants and their North Face fleeces, are a sad group. A Cornell University acapella group even made a song called "North Faced Girl."

That said, I have a down jacket and a half a dozen fleeces for sport wear. I think they are very good. I just don't think they are "cool."

I'm 21 now and I feel that their sort of childish. I remembered how i wanted one in high school but didnt have money for one b/c it cost 300 dollars for one the jacket with summit series goretex parka type. I don't even feel like wearing it anymore since i have been in college for almost 3 years.

I even have a north face lumbar pack those fanny packs. I just don't feel their fashionable anymore to wear outside because everyone dresses like that. Also, is there something wrong with me not wearing it when it rains? Most north faces like mine which are goretex are designed for wind and rain but I ALWAYS wear my Kenneth cole peacoat and won't even wear my north face anymore. I like to look fashionable and by wearing the north face I feel like nothing.

anyone else feel this way like me?

I don't know how serious you are saying this but relax man, it's just clothes.

If you want top of the line technical outerwear, you're better off going with Arc Teryx, Patagonia, Marmot, or Mountain Hardwear these days.

If you find North Face at a heavy discount and you like it, buy it and don't worry about possible frat associations.

If you don't want to go with the tech gear vibe because wearing North Face makes you "feel like nothing", then why start the thread? Nobody on here is going to say that your peacoat isn't good enough and you really need a nice softshell with pit zips.

North Face is actually quality outdoor gear. There is better stuff out there for those in the know, but you couldn't go wrong outfitting yourself head to toe in North Face.

I hate how the brand has become ubiquitous among Long Island fuckheads, Jersey girls, milquetoast college boys, and just yuppies in general, few of whom have ever set face on a mountain or had really had any real occasion to make use of technical gear. Im noticing the same godamn thing happening with Barbours the last couple years. How many of those corporate monkeys in Manhattan do you think have even handled a shotgun, let along stalked through a field on a rainy day?

Arguments of the stylishness of North Face aside, dont let these posers ruin a garment you like.

I mean i read the north face are people who wear it for mountaining etc like in the Midwest. The people who go skiing etc they wear north face. If you type in north face in urbandictionary.com, it does give you a realistic description of people who wear it.

I use to love wearing north face but now I don't know. I mean if you look at those rich people when even walking outside with an umbrella in their rich neighborhoods, they NEVER wear north face. They always wear those big overcoats. For me, it's like I don't ever want to EVER wear a rain jacket anywhere but just prefer peacoats and blazers.

I don't even like wearing hoodies anymore because it makes me look like a person with no style. I even refuse to wear a hoody when I go out at nighttime to buy something even when nobody is looking at what I am wearing. I know I am called those people who are self conscious but is it wrong for me to never wear rain coats, hats and hoodies?

I never wear just a t shirt when I go outside in the summer. i always wear a good shirt or a polo. Yea, i know it's just clothes but it seems I can't ever wear these things. I won't even dare to put on a baggy t shirt neverless a t-shirt only

yea, I check it out at backcountry.com a lot and it gives a good description of people who wear it and its midwest. I'm assuming Utah and Colorado.

I had a nice fleece jacket that i wore for warmer days on the slopes until my roomate stole it.

I don't get the hate. These seem pretty equivalent to hoodies, although slightly cleaner looking overall.

I can't tell if this is some really advanced trolling or what.

North Face stuff is decent for dealing with weather. I wouldn't ever say it was stylish, though. It's never been cool, it's just been a trend with the frats and sororities for like 10 years now at least.

I wear my North Face Beeline all the time in spring, summer, and fall. Zippers are so unstylish! And don't even get me started on synthetic fill...
