Andrew van den Houten, 25, a filmmaker in New York, is having the tailor Alan Flusser make him a three-button gray suit and shirts for meetings.
This is going to upset one or two people.
    Why? Who's he?

It's more the 'tailor Alan Flusser' part.

I don't get this article at all.

"If you're a middle manager, you don't show up your boss or a client."

Errr, aren't most people either a middle manager or less than that? And didn't the article imply that older guys are the ones still dressing poorly? And what's up with the guy who thinks his Canali suit is going to be too "smoking" to wear to the office? And is it really possible for a novice to recognize how much your suit cost?

    Wow -

I guess we're all on the cutting edge.

P.S. Anyone have a link to the C&J slip-ons referenced in the dandy article. I can't afford them, but I'd like to look.

Old news. This time the NYTImes is about 3 years behind the trend, rather than the usual 1 year. Good job guys. And I would like to see that Canelli suit - it must be smokin'.

Yes, but his "Canelli" one might be.

There seems to be a story like this every six months, or a year at most. "Elegance" and "dressing up" are always so busy "returning" that it's a wonder they ever find time to depart in the first place.

Thank god, white shirts are hot at the moment. I can finally wear them again.

It might be behind the NYT's firewall. Access is free, but you have to register.
