The new Men's Vogue.

The new Men's Vogue has a small feature on the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine, as well as another minor story on Bernadini, the vintage luxury dealers.

I thought those two stories were compelling. There is also an Henry Poole story.

There's an Armani ad with a velvet collar on a suit jacket, if I recall correctly. Very John Steed. The most interesting thing I've ever seen from Armani.

My issue still hasn't come. I browsed it at Barnes and Noble and enjoyed the Poole feature, though I wished it were longer and more focused on Poole.

Saw some other interesting items, but didn't want to read everything before I got my copy.

Yes, the Poole feature was a bit minor too. I thought the photo with the men was too distant; it seemed they were going to profile CEOs or something.

Got MV a couple days ago....having flipped thru it quickly, it already looks much better than the previous issue. Some great looking ads in it as well.

A few months ago, I sent in my subscription. The invoice comes back addressed to my wife. How that happened, I can't begin to imagine. Call me senstitive, but I figured that since I ordered the magazine, they at least had a responsibility to get things right. Second invoice comes back, slightly more dire. Third invoice arrives, still addressed to the missus. It spells things out in clear tones: you don't send us your money, we don't send you our delightful publication.

I have not yet subscribed, but I do make sure to catch MV, at 'the bookstore.' Haven't yet seen this issue, but I'm off soon, to check it out. Am most, most interested in that Armani ad, as described by Doc Holliday.

You can read it at Barnes in less than 10 minutes. As most of it is hardly anymore than the same ads that you find in the monthly GQ/Esquire Fashion magazines. I still like Menswear Quarterly better. Lobbs get alot of play in this issue.

I picked a copy up at B&N. Not that impressed; the ones before it were much better. So far nothing as cut the cake like its first issue.

That was definitely cool. Though I remember Warhol dressed as the author described him, I didn't know it was a love of his.

That said, outside of that (and a few other stories), I was pretty underwhelmed by this latest MV. I doubt I'll be buying any more in the future.

The latest issue of MV didn't inspire or teach me anything about clothes that I couldn't have found here. Save your money.

On the other hand I got a really good laugh out of the Hickey-Freeman ad on the back cover, and on the Tommy Hilfiger ad of the guys in skates... wearing suits.
