I think I would need to put my cat’s picture on it...
Go for it! Here's one of mine wondering why you're taking so long...

I recently read Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale and I actually think Craig is closer to the character than the other actors. Bond was not originally very likable.

It would actually be cool if the movie franchise took the character even more toward the original iteration.

it would be controversial because the novel version was even more misogynistic than the movie versions but I think audiences today could handle an ambivalent lead character

Yeah, I read them long ago after watching the movies and realized Bond is really a violent, amoral misogynist.

I'd say you're correct attitudinally, but Craig is an oaf. The actual Bond had a high-class angle, or at least the ability to mix with the same without looking like a security guard.

Even Connery was originally rejected by Ian Fleming because he thought the actor would be too thuggish for the role. Bond should be a smooth operator and whippet-like, not a brawling toady.

Misogynist is a word that gets used to cover too much, IMO. Sexist perhaps, but hardly hatred if Bond is constantly bedding women.

agree he doesn’t look like Fleming describes him. It’s his attitude that I think is closer than the other actors— he seems fatalistic and not like he’s having fun.

its not just about the bedding. He goes on and on in the 1st novel about how useless women are apart from being sex objects

it all fits with the character though if you imagine living a life of total secrecy, isolation and violence
