I've seen "In the Mood for Love" and "2046".
Stunning cinematography and excellent sountrack /movie scores.
Seriously, frame by frame the composition and color is superb.
Any of his other movies on this level?

I'm pretty confident that his name is Wong Kar Wai, actually.

I've seen a couple of his movies, including In The Mood For Love.

Chungking Express is very different from ITMFL but I really liked it anyhow. I have to watch 2046 sometime soon. One of his most heralded movie is Happy Together, you should take a look at it.

They're all fantastic (at least after they started to be distributed in Europe and the US - i.e. after As Tears Go By). My favorite is Chungking Express and my least favorite is 2046. Happy Together is also beautiful.

His partnership with Christopher Doyle gives a beautiful photography to his films. I think he's clearly one of the 10 most talented directors in the world

He is my absolute favorite director. In The Mood For Love is his best work. I found 2046 too vague, and the plotlines disconnected. Chungking Express is good, and Fallen Angels as well. Ashes of Time is his take on a martial arts flick.

Did you see In the Mood first? 2046 draws heavily from it.

Yes, several times before watching it. The ones I have yet to see are Days of Being Wild and the short he did in Eros.

I seriously need to see some of his films (I know, I should be ashamed of myself).

...Mood for Love:

I clicked it off after an hour and went to the gym instead. Horrible for me. One of those movies that get mixed reviews.

Days of being wild is very moody and the filters Doyle uses gives an amazing tint to the whole movie. The eros short is ok, I think WKW's langorous style asks for a longer lenght.

Guess I'm in the unappreaciative minority.

Nothing wrong with not liking it - no film can please everyone. I was just reacting to your comments about the film's reviews being mixed
