i've been thinking about really classic and iconic style lately.

haircut: short back and sides
scent: christian dior eau sauvage
suit: henry poole navy 2b notch
shirt: brooks brothers point collar shirt
tie: turnbull and asser navy woven
shoes: allen edmonds park avenue
watch: patek philippe calatavra in yellow gold/ black croc
pen: mont blanc 149

from the list above i only have the poole suit and sadly my mont blancs are sign pens/rollerballs. i'd like to know what would be on your list. perhaps they may be ubiquitous/too boring or not to your taste but it would be hard to deny them classic status.

^ You seriously need to spend more time here.

Also, define your "classic"...

By "classic", you mean America 1950's?

E shoes? And a BB shirt? American Trad, maybe.

I don't understand why you'd pair a bespoke suit and a Patek Philippe with AEs and a BB shirt. In your position, I'd have saved money on the timepiece and put it into the shoes and shirts.

park avenues seem like the classic captoe available rtw. so if bespoke i guess a cleverley/fosters would be ideal. though i'm partial to the latter.

the poole silhouette is what i think of as a classic. although a lot of other tailors make it too.

the bb shirt could be any white shirt that has a point collar. it's just my idea of a classic shirt since it's not british, italian, or american buttondown. so if bespoke maybe the mercer tennis collar would be my ideal classic.

hope that explains my list.

what's on your list guys?

i didn't necessarily say they were of good taste or sf approved but just classics. as i've said i also don't have most of the things on my list save the poole suit.

I don't think a shirt can be regarded as a 'classic' unless it has a widely spread collar, at least wide enough that the collar points are under the lapels of the jacket but preferably wider than that.

^what? why? that's just your preference but just because the points are not tucked into a shirt doesn't mean it's less of a classic.

thanks fuuma! that's a good list.

Skip the cologne, and put that money into custom shirts.
