1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

^^ I agree. I have started wearing braces again with regularity and remove my jacket when I get to my office. I think wearing my jacket all day in the office would make me stand out more than wearing braces.

A lot of dressing well involves doing something for your own pleasure and amusement.

Anything that smacks of trying to show off was considered vulgar

I actually prefer my BB braces to my Thurstons, but I may purchase more from Thurston anyway just because they also do custom work. The yoke is so high on my Thurston braces that it's almost between my shoulder blades; therefore, it shows up as a bump in my suit coat. The yokes on my BB braces are low enough that they are hidden in the small of my back. Much preferred.

I believe that in generations past suspenders were considered part of a gentleman's underclothing and thus he never exposed them, especially to ladies, except the one he was intending to sleep with. Today that view might be a tad dated, though given some of the wonderfully scandalous patterned suspenders I've seen lately, leaving the coat on at work might be the politic choice.[IMG]

But in such times past, weren't most, if not all, of a "gentleman's" suits three-piece? In that case, even removing one's jacket wouldn't expose such "unmentionables" as braces, nor would pushing aside one's jacket to fetch something from a trouser pocket (which I can only imagine equivalent to today's women bending over and giving the thong shot).

I may have got a member on here to pick me up a Burgundy and a Navy pair of BB braces from a local thrift store to him, so hopefully I will have a decent set up! :D

One thing to note; it sounds like Thurston makes all but their Elastic braces from silk, while Brooks Brothers uses nylon for most of theirs (though they do have a few patterned offerings in silk, albeit more expensive).

only if you're living in the 1890s.

if so, also remember not to appear anywhere outside your bedroom "in your shirtsleeves", and

ALWAYS wear a hat when outdoors.

All of my trousers have side tabs already. I never wore a belt. Only difference now is buttons.

Mine are charcoal/ dark grey. I only wear navy and charcoal in case they do happen to show. I personally don't like "fun" anything.

I like when the English buy from Brooks Brothers. Net exports, man. Net exports.

Another 480 million pairs of BB suspenders exported and the US is in the black for the month.
I just bought some lovely Thurston braces -- must keep the Commonwealth strong. [IMG]
