Yes, 120 euro. The rent must be higher. The ties are all made in Naples.

120 Euro, at these days exchange is about 160 Bucks.

Dont forget to get a receipt for the VAT and have them fill out that form and you get some $ back.

The store in Naples doesn't have a VAT refund program but if you ask them they will take off 10 euros per tie. I'm not sure about the store in Milan.

I;ll have to give that a try. I have typically been too slopy about VAT when shoping in Europe.

Can they legally refuse to fill out the forms if they are collecting that money? Dont be sloppy. Its really easy to get the $ back other than the fact that you have to show them that you are taking it out of the country, i.e. it has to go in your carry on. With ties thats not a big deal. Other clothing Items , (shoes, handbags, Suits, etc. ) can get to be a pain.

I usually just have them ship things back to me in New York. Then they take the VAT off right then, you don't have to worry about forms and refunds, and you don't have to carry it.

Of course you do have to pay shipping. But if it's a couple of shirts or ties, the shipping won't be that much.

They can refuse. If they don't have a relationship with a tax-refund company then you won't get the VAT back. This is a voluntary thing and probably costs them money but should give them a competitive edge.

Countries differ in how paranoid they are about the customs. In some, you'll only have to show your purchases if they are above a rather large amount, total. Other countries will make random checks on travellers so it pays to take it in carry-on.

Regarding bespoke ties from Marinella, they cost 90 euro.
80 euro for the RTW.
