Well done for using an inexpensive Baracuta alternative. They are just as good and better value.

I would just use the first photo featuring the top half.

Others have mentioned jeans. I will just say that polished shoes with jeans was fine in the 1960s but it looks a bit dated now.

I am a bit surprised that all the contestants (apart me) wear jeans while the topic is smart casual. Jeans are allowed indeed, but i didnt expect so many, furthermore when the fit isnt very good...

Wembley market got a mention a few pages back. Jeans reminded me of Dickie Dirts in Westbourne Grove. Levi jeans knocked out at a great price and Sunday trading before it was fully legal for ordinary shops.

Mr. Knightley has been interested in clothes far longer than me and knows more about expensive kit too. I was back to the High Street straight after Ivy/Squire shops began to wane in popularity. There was a Jewish family shop in Willesden Green - Gladstone - that had acceptable suits and other gear was very close to home too. Not quite Mr.Byrite, but not far off - those slim shirts with beagle collars and high waisted trousers with an enormous flare that might fit in at The Wigan Casino. My one saving grace is I never had platform shoes. I always had decent footwear.

The Challenge.....my opinion.....read no further if easily offended !

I would never enter the Challenge so perhaps I shouldn't express an opinion,but I will anyway because the subject of the Challenge interests me.

Looking at the entrants my reaction has been to think 'yes I really ought to go out and creosote my fence too'.
I definitely think that Clouseau should have taken a tip from the Cruise line and added 'strictly no jeans' to the opening post.....and certainly no jeans "inspired" by Jeremy Clarkson.
As a collection of pictures of what men should NOT wear I think that it is quite good.

MrK wondered a few pages back if it was worth paying out more for Casual wear to get a better look,I would say that this Challenge answers that question with a massive YES, but its not just the price,jeans need to fit and they need to suit the wearer,imo some people need to be take a self critical look at themselves and say thats it no more jeans.
I am very critical of other people but dont worry I also look at myself in the same way,I would never dress now like I did as a teenager for a start,Jeans have got to fit and suit me,no Trainers,not too many 'skinhead' items worn together etc etc.

Clouseau's Harrington in the Challenge (is it G4 style?) is easier to wear in a 'smart casual' way as it doesnt have a visible tartan lining or elasticated waistband,I have a very similar one from M&S Autograph and I find that it looks ok with trousers and shoes.

I am interested to see how Botolph approaches this Challenge,I hope that he will go for it with OCBD,Trousers/Chinos,Brogues to give Clouseau some competition.

I agree that @Botolph 's take would be interesting, i would also like to see @EFV, @CravateClub75, @An Acute Style, @Thin White Duke, and @Caustic Man, among others...
And of course it would be great to have you cerneabbas, but i know you are reluctant about posting pictures.

It's fall and we still can pull out a 'Harrington', one of the most versatile jacket one can own. It seems like the new Challenge for the next couple of weeks is figuring how to look smart with a simple blouson, at first designed to play Golf. RULES : The picture(s) must be recent, one month...
