Ah ok Thanks.Guess I thought he was an original given how he dressed. Never saw anyone else trying to pull of that look in 82! When did he last post on hear, his name cant be found now?
On my journey to work in a few moments I will mainly be playing “ The 4-skins”. ?
Actually he was one of the first skinheads from the revival, and he dressed with vintage Ben Sherman and Sta Prest, etc. There is an interesting interview of him somewhere, i will try to find it...
Edit : i can't, just found this article that probably refers to the said interview, and that mention clobber :
He was always smart, and exemplary of a certain look. I remember his pictures were very influential, and i moved towards a smarter look.
I don't think he posted on MtS for several years.

He has a very confusing wiki entry which states he was a skin, a suede, and a Mod with seemingly overlapping timelines. Also he was a Spurs fan but went to West Ham? I dunno how that works. If I said I was a Sunderland fan but went to watch Newcastle I’d probably be leading a very lonely life!

He’d said he was part of the mid-‘70s skinhead revival(cousins or elder brother were originals™), and then went “suede” around the time the main skinhead revival kicked in. Dunno when he was a mod, but he said he went casual in the mid(?)/late(?) ‘80s.
Spurs supporter but a lot of his buddies were/are West Ham.

Well Wiki as you know is not something always reliable. I guess things were moving on quickly in London in the time, and he was into music...lines were probably not that steady yet.
I remember for example that skins and punks were a bit mixed here in the beginning, and a few months later they hated each others !

70?....bloody hell and I thought nearly 60 was bad enough! I still come on here now and then and have a read. I was 8 in 69 and although I wore the fashion, like many I couldnt really call myself a skinhead at the time, I associate that with my uncle and aunt and cousins who were in their late teens.

As for the Hoxton monkey jacket, it's actually based on that jacket I used to wear, an old Sandpa jacket from the 60s that one of my uncles passed onto me.

On the football front, always been Spurs, my son and I are season ticket holders. Back then, apart from my mates from Hoxton, who were roughly 50/50 Spurs/Gooner, most of my mates from East London were West Ham so the association stuck.

As for the skinhead/suede/mod bit, became a skinhead for a short time in 77, with the proper look, but liked the idea of suedehead and a bit more suited up so changed. I was involved in the mod revival but never a mod, just me to be honest.

Anyway hope all of you and your familys are all well.

Cheers

Tom

Sorry Tom. I only thought it because of your dress sense back in the early 80s. Feel a right tit now lol.
if it’s any concellation I brought the 4 skins clamshell box set from cherry red records earlier. Because there was stuff I hadn’t had since the vinyl days.

Looks even grimmer than the original pic?
Still managing a walk everyday as allowed, we've got plenty of open countryside on the doorstep within walking distance. I feel sorry for those that live in cities and can't do the same.
Monkey boots are getting some mileage.
