Thanks Chank, the last isn't that sleek. Maybe worth seeking out a pair? That said not many knocking around I think. They were £130 from C & J factory shop. Have to admit I always had/have a thing for brown boots but since I've had these I've worn em reasonably often, particularly in the wet weather this year as they have a dainite sole. For dry and smarter days some black Chelsea boots, not much dry weather around though this year!

£130 is an absolute steal. They certainly look excellent with those flannel (?) trousers, as does your Grenson combo. The latter - are they old collection, Ascot perhaps?

Regarding the C&J, could you advise the name/last?

    Apologies for the thread diversion.

Grensons are 'Style 6208/47' and C & J sold as samples. Closet last I can see to be 348 as on my Lowndes 2.

Where the boot has come from (in its different guises) evolved, or not, over the last 50 years is interesting though.

Very nice, does exclusive mean "very expensive" ?.
Those Church smooths on the other thread,I think that they are Shannons if so I saw them at Bicester village,a very nice quite heavy shoe that looked well made.

    Great thread chaps.

As a 44-year-old who has always incorporated parts of the Look but was never 100% Mod or Skinhead or whatever this is a great read. These days it's Barbour, unstructured sport coats, tweed jackets, cardigans, brogues, suede chukkas, OCBD shirts, slim straight selvedge denim, polos - long and short sleeved, Barracuta G9, adidas originals etc etc. Basically a mongrel mix of Mod, Ivy, football casual and whatever you're having yourself.

A great first post and welcome to the thread.
I like that mix myself,I have great hopes that this thread will make me look at even more items, I am pretty open minded and have recently added Paraboot Michaels to my shoe collection (not to everyones liking I know ).

    Basic summer look for me:

    Navy, grey, white, black
    Vneck, teeshirt, sweatshirt, jeans
    Generic, undetailed, blank
    'playful' socks.

Maybe add a bengal stripe/contrast collar non-button down semi-cutaway collar shirt. Would like to get my ties involved somehow (navy with white/pink/mauve dots/stripes/motifs).

Trainers / training shoes / sneakers, call them what you like, love em or hate em ,do they have any place in the Look ?.
I have a pair of Hugo Boss in brown suede that I wear with dark blue cotton jeans.
I am interested in what others think,if its a massive no is that because you just like classic leather shoes ?,if its yes, is that because you see it as a Casual twist on the look ?.
Or do they have no place at all and am I really a Chav in denial ?.

For the record I have SL72s (dark jeans) and Stan Smiths (slim chinos). More likely to wear suede chukkas or brogues etc
