I would love a pair of the split-toe Norwegian Gibsons or whatever they are called today. I am not sure about the ones you spotted by Poste. They seem a bit clunky and shiny...

Just chipping in with my latest acquisition, a tunic 'grandad' shirt to be worn without collar and with sleeves rolled on the forearm. Occurred to me that skinhead is the living link back to that 20s look that seems to have caught on from tv, we being the last generation with fathers or grandfathers who wore braces and detachable collars and having crossed that stuff over into mod to produce skinhead (the grandad shirt being more of an early 80s crossover, apparently).

Haha...don't see why not. Thinking of getting some myself, never thought I would be doing that again (clips not buttons, my dad's were clips so that is good enough for me).

Phew! I bought black with an interchangeable button and clip fastening. Still not had a maiden run!

In the same book he states that shoes for men will never be seen again - only boots! It seems an odd suggestion to us today but perhaps he was becoming a little out of touch by then...

Quote:I found myself in a branch of Office yesterday and looked for the said Gibsons without success. But while looking I did spot some very passable dark brown Made in Italy plain cap Oxfords under the 'Poste' label. They were about £100. Clearly not the finest leather or the cleanest finish but they do look 'just right' in design terms. I might just have another look...

I was in Office in Bristol this morning Mr K,and they didn't have the split toes either ( I looked in the branch at Cribbs Caseway last week and nothing),the shoes that I did look at today were a pair of Poste plain Gibsons they looked pretty good except they had a crepe sole ! why ?..I then went in Jones the bootmaker and had another look at the Barker Nairn..very nice,i am definitely tempted.

Saw a bloke in a corduroy 'sheepskin' coat - think the corduroy of a Levi sherpa jacket with the length/detail of a proper sheepskin coat. I say yes!
