Another sartorial sale!

Olive Overcheck Tweed Sport Jacket – 46 R

Jacket Length: 28.5"
Sleeve Length: 24.5" (finished but unaltered from default)
Waist: 36"

Season: FW 2020

I love this jacket, but I need to make room in my closet. This circa-2020 cut is a bit different from the latest iterations—still good, but just something to be aware of. DM for additional details if interested!

Exactly! This season the collar height seems to be the same, but without the previous thickness. They're still modeled being worn without a collared shirt underneath and they look fine that way, but I agree that the old collar felt more like a nice alternative to a rollneck. I'm wearing last year's lambswool rollneck right now and it's significantly softer than the shetlands. The shetlands are too scratchy against bare skin for me, but the lambswool version feels almost like cashmere (and it wasn't even that much more expensive, as I recall).

I do hope more lambswool knitwear reappears.
for the record, I asked them about it and they confirmed they did away with the old glorious collar. Sadly.

I just took delivery of a Natalino tweed jacket, single-breasted.
I am a bit surprised by the fabric. I live in Ireland where there’s always a lot of tweed worn , and I’m familiar with the slightly sturdier British tweed as well. This is my first encounter with Italian tweed and it seems more delicate, less rugged than what I usually associate with tweed.
I’m not saying that’s a bad thing necessarily, but I wonder if anyone here has experience with the Natalino tweed jackets and can vouch for how the fabric holds up over time? Something I appreciate about tweed is its durability. But something I appreciate about Natalino is the Italian style which I like better than the more structured jackets of my native land!

I have plenty of Natalino trousers
How would you compare the fit to high rise trousers from Spier? I've been getting them in 35 and then bringing the waist in a bit so I have enough room in the seat. I'm trying to figure out if I should go with a 34 or 36 with Natalino.

Has anyone tried the new jeans? Fit looks good and I like the subtle look overall (nothing flashy), but the outside seams look weird. They seem to be too dark - like a full-on stripe down the leg on the light wash ones.

It depends if you mean the new or old Spier trousers. Their old fit was too shallow in the u-rise (front to back) and generally too slim overall in the seat.

I only have one pair of the new fit, and it's oddly baggy in the hips and the crease of the leg falls way off center. They don't work for me. That said, their 36 was definitely roomier (now) than my Natalino ones (across multiple pairs).

I wear 36 in Natalino and take the waist in. I find their size chart to be fairly accurate. As of right now, Spier's size chart shows slightly bigger measurements relative to waist size to Natalino. So I would favor the 36.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up getting the 36. When I brought them in to get hemmed the tailor was like "It could come in at the seat a bit". I declined at the time. I'll post some pics once I get them back and see what you guys think. Overall they fit well and are a little roomier than what I'm used to. Spier almost took my manhood many times with shallow cut of their jib...

This is my deliberation atm; whether to buy 36 and take-in, or 34 and let-out? My current Incotex and Hugo Boss trousers measure flat at around 17.5”/44.5cm. At 43cm and 45.5 for the Natalino 34 and 36 respectively, I seem to be bang in the middle. How do these measurements compare with your experience of exisiting and new trousers from Natalino? I’m looking at both cotton and flannel. I suspect the cotton may have a slight bit of give when worn.

Good Doctor, these are my first pair of Natalinos. They are high rise corduroy. I have a natural 37" waist and these fit very comfortably but could be a bit tighter. I'll use the side tabs for now but I might bring in the waist. Even without being able to try them on, I think the 34s would have worked better. Once I get them back I'll get you the measurements.

I see the Mock leno is specified with 10oz weave, is it equivalent to 300gsm? If so, can it only be a cool 3 season cloth? Or is the open weave make it a summer cloth?

I'm looking for one single do it all sportcoat

the mock Leno is more like 315 gm ish, but open enough of a weave to wear spring/Summer/fall. Possibly winter with a sweater if you're indoors.

Agree. 3-4 seasons. In the southern US summer I'm more likely to grab linen, WSL, something lighter. But it serves it's purpose as a more conservative, majority of the year, travel friendly jacket.

Waiting patiently for someone to report their experience about the new raw denim jeans. Although for 300€ there is so much competition...
