If you're really about that lint life, then proceed. I would be hesitant to cut the lining at the seams for fear of loosening the other stitching behind it, but perhaps you are more adept at this than I.

I would not attempt to take it right to the seam edge for your stated reasons. In most places it wouldn't show much at all as there is some leather that extends past that point. Where it does show I would hope that in time the fraying remains of the cupro would become a feature.

If it looks really bad or compromises the stitch integrity I'll get it re-lined in a proper cotton.

I have finally found my ideal sweatshirt. These two are from Buzz Rickson and for less than a buck fifty, I think they present an excellent value. The quality on these is great, with the grey feeling slightly heavier (maybe fluffier?) and a bit looser, although I just received the black today. It was surprisingly tough to find a sweat that had a tighter neckline and didn't extend too far past my waist. While a lot of places say to size up, I would stick to your usual size in these as they do loosen with wear. This is a 38-40 and I have a 40-41" chest.

I want to co-sign on these sweatshirts, too. Great fit,comfort, and price. Solid cuffs, too (although not quite as good as Merz cuffs).

They fit better than the Real McCoys (which fits too short). I have a 42" chest and wear a XL.

Fits better, way less sweaty, and a little lighter - what’s not to like?
Well, it did expose some less than stellar stitching, but I don’t think it’s structural.

Overall, I’d say they’re nice.. but they’re not WOW like my White Klouds were. Being 100% objective, I don’t think they’re particularly worth the wait. For that kind of a wait, I want to be wowed personally. Don’t get me wrong, good boots.. but I can find RTW manufacturers that have finishing just as good and I would say better. Still glad to have them, and they’ll get worn hard.. just don’t see myself fussing with custom MTOs unless it’s full bespoke or another pair of White Klouds. I will say though, they fit really well which is it’s own criteria so that’s always a huge plus since I did get measured by him in person. I’ll still look forward to my Engineers, but after that I’m done haha.



Maybe @peachfuzzmcgee can chime in about his pairs and offer some thoughts. Funny enough though I’m looking forward to two shell Alden’s on the way ?

To be quite honest, I grabbed them because I liked the style more than anything so I wasn't super fussed about the quality. I don't think the wait is worth it overall (for just about any shoe), and I definitely won't be jumping in the queue again. I have no experience with white kloud as they aren't my vibe, but I will say that my role clubs were my first venture into the big boy boot realm and I enjoyed it. I wear them hard, but to be honest, for a 4 month wait on the first pair, it wasn't bad. The second pair being almost a year and a half was too much.

I'm now waiting on my clinch/black sign boots, and again I'm not super fussed about the leather type nor the overall perfectness of it. I just wanted some wild ass vintage patterns.

@peachfuzzmcgee I know what you mean, as I mostly like Brian’s boots for the style. That said, once you’re paying $1k+ for a pair of footwear that comes with some expectations I suppose in overall finish. Even my Clinch boots had a couple tiny things, but it was only a 6 month wait for those back in 2018. It’s all good though, I’m not gonna baby these anyway and in 6 months it won’t matter.

Yeah I both feel Role Club and Clinch at year plus long waits are not really worth it especially when it's not perfect perfect. I mean you are right that an RTW could get damn near perfection in many cases and I don't fault you on your alden craze. Shell is just something else haha.
