The Black Sign guys pull it off, I've seen Nishiura wearing them with black chucks for maximum flex.

Not saying it's bad in any way, shape, or form. I just didn't expect it to be the item someone who likes understated looks gets.

Wow two hot washers and a dryer.. hope it didn’t effect the fit too much.

Very little, as Jeremy noted. Still, putting them through a third time. They're faded denim – they've already been subjected to as much damage as you can give. And, as has been commented, dudes didn't start coddling their jeans until like 08, yet sick fades did occur.

Yeah I’m just paranoid with sanforized denim having had a couple pairs shrink too much in a washing machine. I’m not opposed to washing regularly, but do so by hand versus machine especially with something like CSF pair which is sort of too difficult to replace now lol.

The concern with shrinkage makes sense. I try to size up for that reason, but have yet to find the magic bullet. I'm always between sizes.

CSF?

That’s been my issue as well being in between so I usually go a size larger and generally prefer a looser fit for denim.

Oh sorry, CSF is short for Conners Sewing Factory made by Yoshiaki Konaka. His stuff is too hard to get now than it was a few years ago so the pair I have from him I’m extra careful with.

Based on my own experience and that of my customers, I don't think there's that much risk in washing your pants. I'd probably not throw a new pair of unsanforized jawns in the dryer, but I've definitely had some worn-in pairs accidentally go in with towels and sheets to no ill effect.

@StrangeJeremy Based on your experience with the 001xx do you see any issues with getting them hemmed? Is there a nuanced taper I'm not aware of that would be affected by being chopped?

I’m having an identity crisis. The jeans are too long and arguably a bit too wide. They cuff poorly at least. I could have them hemmed, but risk making them even less attractive. I could also taper them, but I feel that violates some sanctimony around buying repro, as you start really messing with the seams.

If I want to go for this kind of vibe, then probably a good 2-3”.

Which seams like a lot. I’m not used to looser wider fits paired with higher rises, esp when the waist is a bit loose.

Do you feel like they're just flat-out too big for you?

If they made a 35, that would probably fit me snug but better overall. 34 would be too small. The seat and rise are all pretty fitted, except when I allow them to sag, which is inevitable of course. Mainly there's just a lot of excess length (and I'm a tall guy), so that I either go for the 00s pooling hem or else get them taken up. Cuffs just aren't striking me as attractive.

Having a width of 8+ below the knee leading to an 8.5" hem is a new one for me with denim

Edit: The top block and waist fit pretty much like this. And then it's a mess below the knees.

Standard & Strange just restocked on the western chambray in both white and blue. RMC themselves are sold out in this, as are distributers that were expecting stock (at least that was the case with Celluloid).

Some inspo
