What is wrong with them?
I don't know. I had an idea in my head of what they would be and they're not quite that. They're also a bit looser and longer than I'd like and I'm skeptical they'll shrink, since garment washed.

I famously change my mind on things.

I’ll offer you $9 and a pack of gum
Keep talking...

Get them hemmed? A looser fit may work well with your other repro gear?
True. It's also the wash itself. It just doesn't speak to me.

I'll be honnest, as much as I like RMC (1) I don't like those washed jeans enough to wear washed jeans, (2) they're too big, and (3) I'm introducing a pair of black jeans sometimes in July (thanks @StrangeJeremy for turning me onto my next pair ).
Don't worry, G – I didn't take you for real.

I decided to keep them and put them through the wash, for what would my week be without a $350 gamble?

They're not widely available so far. This is the most attractive presentation of them I've seen:

Barnstormer and Nagoya make them look a bit too washed out, however these detail shots from Nagoya are an accurate representation of the beige/dusty undertone, which is what initially turned me off to them:

I can see wearing them big-cuff style, and I like them that way with my Viberg sidezips. However, I generally don't go for the big cuff, so I may need to have them hemmed, more like how Squarzi wears his denim.

Another option for a slightly loose fitting washed jean is the relaxed fit vintage wash from The Workers Club. I got these in the last MR P sale for 70% off which was a steal, but they are really, really nicely made and have a high rise that sits just below the navel. I would say in real life the wash is slightly lighter than in these pictures but it looks quite authentic vintage, rather than some other washed denim I've seen.

@whorishconsumer how was the rise on those? Just curious as I’m not sure what era those particular jeans were emulating.

Pretty shallow – it was 12" front, 16.5" back before wash. We'll see after wash.
