I'm selling two Joy McCoy's OCBD new with tags for a decent price and worldwide shipping if anyone's after the perfect oxford.

Where in New Zealand are you from?

Please let me know if this is a faux pas but I have a pair of Joe McCoy's outdoor utility shorts listed in the classifieds. Fabric is sage green cotton pique from SS24. Size M.

Honestly a great pair of shorts but sadly just too small for me.

Hello all.

I am looking for a new pair of high quality gym shoes/trainers, preferably something "vintage style" to go pair my Whitesville & Buzz Rickson's sports apparel. Tired of the Nike's, Adidas, etc. that are often low quality, no matter how much they cost.

I did some research and came across these CLINCH Mast Trainer Horse Hide Black "Black Stitch". Now, they are described as "trainers", but they don't look like the trainers I am familiar with. They are expensive and sold out, but I was wondering if anyone has these and if you can provide some comments ; are they suitable as trainers/workout shoes, how comfortable are they, etc.

Would also appreciate some recommendations for high quality trainers that more or less match my description.

I will be asking this question in two or three threads that I deem suitable (Japanese brands - Clinch boots/shoes), so apologies if it comes across as spammy.

you do you but modern athletic shoes are going to blow this out of the water performance wise. I can't imagine trying to do any serious workouts or training in them or really any other leather shoe. Proper cushioning, light weight, and breathability are all critical. They look cool for casual wear though.

What about the quality do you find bad? There are a lot of good options these days. The most important thing is finding what kind of fit and materials you need to keep you and your body happy, then figuring out the shoe style from there.

I have both Crown Northampton & Goral sneakers, and would never wear them for anything more athletic than walking on a dirt path. They're thick & heavy and trainers in name-only.

Any brands or perhaps even specific trainers that you can recommend?

Nowadays, there are many sports apparel brands, and each brand has so many options for each item that they are selling, that it has become difficult to find proper quality. That's why I am looking at Japanese repro brands – I know their quality is reliable. However, I am not too fixated on that – just want to find something proper. I've tried Nike, Adidas, Asics, Goruck, etc., but not happy with any of them. Some of the issues I've encountered:

1. shoes "reshape" (form changing, become larger) rather quickly;
2. loose threads;
3. overall just low quality, i.e. I can feel the wind come through my shoes when outside (always wearing proper socks).

I am quite fit, size 43-44 EU, so nothing out of the ordinary there. Don't think it's abuse either, I only wear them to and at the gym.

Usually spend in the 120-170 euros range for a pair. Maybe that's on the low end for trainers – willing to spend more if I know I'll get something good and not just more of the same.

@kurdo I would be looking at Moonstars vulcanized line. They have models that are essentially like chuck Taylor’s but much better made. Zero drop heel for the most part which should be fine for lifting or other weight training. I would not run in them however.

I wouldn't consider feeling the wind an indicator of low quality. Athletic shoes are supposed to be breathable. If you need to sacrifice that, for canvas I can second the Moonstar rec, and for suede I liked my ZDA Marathons. For a true running shoe Norda 001 has been my favorite.

Beautiful jacket from Freenote via Franklin & Poe. Unfortunately, it missed this year's budget planning cycle for me.
