Anyone else excited about Clive Owen's new movie, The International? Sounds like we'll get to see what he might have looked like playing James Bond.

Mildly excited.

Plus: based on the early 90s scandal of The Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI). When I think of BCCI, I think of Giando, a mob-friendly restaurant at the foot of Broadway in Brooklyn, which through some BCCI link made the cover of the NY Post.

Minus: Meh reviews.

Yes and I intend to see it sometime this weekend.

I kind of chuckled at the plot until someone reminded me that Goldman Sachs has it's own private security force...

Ugh, the premise sounds absolutely idiotic.

Ebert gave it three stars, as in 'it more or less fulfilled the entertaining requirements of a silly action movie where things only happen because the plot demands them.'

Matinee movie, in other words.

i absolutely refuse to watch it even when it on TNT or something.

It just sounds painfully stupid. Kind of like Antitrust.

I'm a fan of Clive Owen's work so I definitely am looking forward to this one.

It always looked daft in the trailers. NPR this morning just trashed it.

Not going to watch it... Looks somewhat, for the lack of a better word, stupid. Come on, trying to take down a bank? That's like many other movies, except they replace the government with bank.

So I saw the movie on Sunday, it gets a 1 &1/2 "mehs". I wouldn't say embarassingly bad, because the writers obviously gave Clive nothing to work with and he somehow manages to pull a two dimensional character out of what was a one dimensional plot, but yea, underwhelming.

Taken was infinitely better than this not quite festering turd.
