i was intrigued with the recent discussions on trolling/gimmicking/spencer karter and just wanted to add my two cents, but the thread is already locked. i, for one, hope that spencer karter is fake because if he is, he points out just how ridiculous we can all get (and even if he is legit, the idea of a fake spencer karter still serves the same purpose). i joined last week after reading of the forum in the nytimes article. this is the first site i've been a member of and have actively posted on probably because my discovery of it conveniently coincides with my first real desk job. anyway, in my first thread i became entangled in a heated debate with strangers about hedi slimane and the merits of skinny ties, which is absurd in the grand scheme of things.

the "how do i save up for a bespoke suit?" thread had me laughing out loud at the computer because it really serves to underscore the frivolity we all indulge ourselves in. the helmut lang/tom ford thread was brilliant too in the same way. when people are seriously discussing the way they imagine karl lagerfeld or martin margiela to be in person, its refreshing to have the sheer preposterousness of the whole conversation pointed out and played upon.

i hope spencer doesn't get banned, he adds a certain levity that can get lost when we all start taking ourselves and our super 150's too seriously.

See my post on Spencer's thread that started this mess.

He's a real person. I hope he's not run off.

It is against the rules of this forum to post a member's real or forum name in a topic title. You are new and I have not gotten around to collecting the rules together in a coherent fashion, so it's understandable. But once again, to everyone, please don't do this.

Also, this topic is not clothing related. Post topics in appropriate forums, please.
