The Incredible Shrinking Collar

Didn't see this posted, but came across it when I saw this new shirt from the Brooks Brothers Spring collection:

Cornwall Collar Extra Slim Fit Shirt

I think this a good step for Brooks Brothers. Variety is the spice of life and offering standard collar points along with short ones seems like a no brainer. RL has been doing it for quite sometime (Estate vs Regent).

These shorter style collars have been offered by other more fashion forward brands for almost 10 years now. The two that come to mind are Dior Homme and Zara, two brands on the opposite ends of the cost spectrum. I basically buy all my shirts exclusively from Brooks Brothers so having a new/another collar option is welcomed.

I find it interesting that Brooks basically copied stuff from their 1930's archive. Many (even here) rant on this kind of stuff as a modern development and a stupid fashony thing, but it's not new. Not even close.

Interesting. I do not exactly know what BB sold in the 30s, but overall, it was a long point collar decade:

Funny, on my next shirt order I just requested larger collars than I've had. Mini collars only work for some people... usually short people, or maybe small heads.
