Always dabbled with stitching, cutting leather, but now id like to purchase some supplies and begin work on a couple of projects including a wallet and a new shoulder strap for a messenger bag. Where do you guys get your materials and supplies?

Subbed, am interested in this as well. Looking for a travel tie case, thinking it'd be cool to make one myself.

Don't think Fishball made that wallet; AFAIK he only sourced the cordovan hide.

    Are you joining Beatrice's class?

You might be able to source leather from AA Crack. Or other leathercraft suppliers online; there are plenty.

That class is taught by the woman behind April in Paris, yes? If I lived in SF (assuming she's teaching it there?) I would sign up for that in a heartbeat.

That book is a pretty good introduction, demonstrating the skills needed through various projects which increase in difficulty.

You can get all the various leather working tools from here (but they are based in UK, so shipping might be quite high)

You are correct. Fishball sourced the shell and a friend of his put it together (i needs me a friend like that)

not taking the class, hard to pony up the $10K for all 3 and the classes are scheduled for during work hours. i might eventually, definitely not now

i believe it is. $10k might not be so bad when you factor in her opportunity cost..

Yeah -- my first thought was, "ehh, not for $10k..." But $3k for a beginner one with her changed my mind. I don't think $3k gets you too far past pocket-sized in her shop.

Echoing thanks for the book bengal, I will be checking it out as well...

Also, keep the thread updated if you don't mind namor, would love to hear about your progress. Don't think I'll be able to go down this rabbit hole until fall-ish.

i just ordered the book from amazon uk for ~$30, being shipped apparently from the author herself. oddly enough, the cheapest used version on the US site was around $100

Well, considering April in Paris' prices, $10k for several wallets, bags, and maybe some advanced brief cases is not too bad!!

And if I read correctly, she supplies the materials as well.

    p.s., I thought its weekend classes 10-6pm?

I've come across a few leatherworking forums, though don't know enough about the topic to actually recommend you one. if you Google around, you can find them easily. I assume the people in those forums will be more helpful than the ones here.
