For other jeans alterations, Self Edge sent me around the corner to Stanton Tailor. They understand jeans and do a great job. But sadly they don't have a chain stitch machine, so if you want tapering and hemming it's two stops. At least the shops are close.

i am sad to report that my pair of jeans was absolutely destroyed and rendered useless by Blue In green.
I requested no break and they made it hang about 1” higher than where it should be.
Really disappointed and I can’t imagine any cleaners doing such a poor job as to make the pants unwearable.

Definitely do not recommend Blue in green to anyone who needs their jeans altered.

I have a D'avenza cashmere coat that needs some small changes on the half-belt on the back (mainly just the length) but I'd like to have it done quick.

Who is good but has a fast turn around?

Sam Wazin finished my coat and did a good job despite a very short turnaround.
Highly recommend.

+1 on Sam, I use him exclusively other than just hemming (that goes to dry cleaner next to me...). I’m sure I might be able to find someone does same job for cheaper but he is consistent and 1 minute away from me so I goes to him exclusively.

He spends most of his time in his new tribeca location. He is only on 57th street on Friday and Saturday’s.

I bought the jeans online and brought it to them.
No, there was no compensation other than not charging me for the hemming, which also was a struggle.
To screw up something so basic is honestly just unacceptable and if I were you I would not take my jeans there.
Maybe they had different people before, but the current guy who did my jeans just seemed off.

I just moved to Brooklyn (crown heights). Anyone recommend a new tailor for basic alterations (hemming, sleeves, etc) ? The closer the better

Also, this might be the wrong side of the forum for this, but would it be reasonable to take more directional/designer stuff to the tailors folks here are recommending (everyone seems to love Sam Wazin)? (Most immediately, a Yohji jacket, but in general, too.) I assume the skills involved aren't an issue, just perhaps a matter of being attuned to the aesthetics of the pieces being altered.

Midtown, I guess? but anywhere along the A would be reasonably convenient. (Or if there's someone closer to southern bed-stuy/crown heights/cobble hill/ft greene etc., that would be great. But I assume it's mostly Manhattan.)

Wazin seems to be everyone's favorite for high end stuff, so in the midtown area that's your best bet. For repairs, I'll also plug French American Reweaving Co.

If you're near a G train I'd recommend Chasing Tailor for a local Brooklyn tailor. He's no specialist like Wazin but he's very all-purpose; suiting, trousers, dresses, jeans, etc. A bit of a character but a good guy. Currently he's off the Marcy JMZ but he's moving to the Lorimer/Metropolitan L/G next week.
