I have lived in HK for over 3 years now and have used a few tailors by now. I found Ah Man was impeccable, the cuts, the range of fabric etc. The issue was the pricing. About 15k HKD for a suit with 2 trousers is above my pay grade. I tried Ascot Chang and Oscar tailor as well (both in Central) and would advise against. The range of fabric was astonishingly limited. I am now getting a suit stitched from Y William Yu. For 140 VBC fabric, a suit costs about 1050 USD while 110 VBC fabric one costs 950 USD. I have had the 2 fittings so far and I am so far very happy with the choice of fabric, the service, the process of measurement, the fittings - it has had a good feel so far. It gets delivered day after so fingers crossed. I have already decided on the second one, but am waiting to see how this one comes out.

IL Sarto is crap. Default finishing is fused, I do not think any good tailor doing that.

I will try TPR for sure among these two.

I did tried TPR shirts couple weeks ago and it turn out good. However, the gentleman who served me is impolite and try to push me buy more expensive all the time. I appreciate their work but not their service.

I think they just have an attractive pricerange and aren't terrible to deal with. I wouldn't say even if their garments for me vary in quality that they were bad purchases. Their price is still competitive vs RTW.

Useful information Pisquare, thanks. 950-1050 USD is the price range I was looking for, so I will definitely try them when I arrive next month.

I was wondering if "Y William Yu" and "William Yu" are the same tailors?
Can you post their contact details please?

    Hi dolama

They are at 46 Mody Road. TST MTR exit D. 23612141 is the number. You need to walk along the road to the end and it's a blink and miss it entrance to a basement shop. It's the same , William Yu and Y William Yu. Hold on for a day and I will post details of my delivery.

    Thank you Pisquare,

I visited Y William Yu at Mody Road once. It gave me a shock after seeing tons of extremely old dusty fabric there. I have no doubt they have the old school craftsmanship but doubt they have the taste for young men. They did offer me the Loro Piana Super 130 at HK$9,500 for 2 pc.
