I think not Leather Healer, since it usually takes a week or so. But you can ping them on Instagram to see if they can help shorten the time needed.@Dalaruan and @ecachiang thanks very much! I'm only stopping in HKG for 2-3 days this time, any idea if either Best Skill or Leather Healer would be able to do a quick job?
usually not that quick, but given this is relatively simple call them up and ask see what they can do, then you can decide between bs and lh@Dalaruan and @ecachiang thanks very much! On my recent AC commissions, Nelson fitted me at their Elements shop.Hi all - I'm now in a professional position to spend 3 months of the year in Hong Kong. I was looking to get some shirts made and wanted to get some latest opinions on Ascot Chang. I did a search and while there was decent info, not sure how current it was.
How have people's recent HK commissions gone? As I understand it, the original Pennisula hotel location is gone and there's just the Kowloon one and the Landmark one. Which location might have the better measurers / fitters? Which has the better cutters? I've been told the cutter isn't doing the fitting. @dieworkwear I saw in an old thread you mentioned Nelson Chin is who you want fitting you... do you know if he is doing this in HK as well and not just the overseas trunk shows? Is Ascot Chang able to accommdate sloped shoulders and forward shoulders well?
Also any quality comparisons between Ascot Chang and those I've used in London would be great (Turnbull and Asser, Stephen Lachter, Hidalgo Brothers). Or traveling Italian tailors (D'Avino, Luca Avitabile) to London.
Thanks in advance!
I'm fitted at Landmark. I'm not too fussy about shirts, i think they give consistent and good results so I'm sure you'll be absolutely satisfied, it's just a little pricey for my liking. There's a first fitting with these shirts so any issues should be easily ironed out.Hi all - I'm now in a professional position to spend 3 months of the year in Hong Kong. I have used Practical Tailor for over 15 years and always found them great. I lived in HK for many years and now live in the UK and they make
Suits, jackets, trousers and shirts and ship straight to UK using measurements on file. I think slightly cheaper than TPR. Ask for Andy.
Thanks for this. Who do you use for your daily workhouse Alumo?I'm fitted at Landmark. I've paid around HK$18xx for one shirt with their basic fabric which is decent i suppose. I've tried Avino Laboratorio Napoli, which is not D'Avino but I'd imagine they're similar. I think Avino's shirt has way more details than AC, both did well with their fit and I have similar shoulders to yours. I paid around Eur390 for Avino shirt but with Carlo Riva fabric, so it's difficult to compare value. IIRC tho a carlo riva shirt is much more expensive at AC than Avino, make it what you will.
In the end I use someone else more, AC is very nice but it's a little difficult to justify the price when my daily workhorse is Alumo and AC charges HK2k+ for one.
On a side note though, AC's blouson is fabulous and you can mto one with your favourite fabric at a reasonable price so long you don't go loro, that's the gem you shouldn't miss!
Sorry I should have mentioned that -not familiar but what is "that" price range (for jacket)
