Recently, I am shopping fabrics for my future CMT projects.
British vintage fabrics are always more durable.

1) Marling & Evans is new fabric, 720g is for my overcoat.
2) Yates vintage fabric, the brand "Yates" can be found easily in the 70's , and was seldom found in the 80's. Look at the logo plate, it's an antique now.
3) Gabardine vintage fabric, Gabardine has water repellent function.

Does anyone know where to buy suit buttons? I need to pick up some buttons for a small project where the sifu does not have buttons but am not sure where to look in HK.

I've purchased some other buttons previously at YW Buttons, but I believe they have a minimum order of 1 gross, whereas I'm only looking to get about 12 buttons.
just been to Hung To button in Sham Shui Po, recommended by tailors , it sells buttons for suits, leather jackets, and shirts. many choice and no min order.

Wai Lee Shell has less choice than Hung To.

A few snaps of my new cutaway shirt by Wong on 7/F. Notice the chicken foot stitches

this one is Wong sifu (Wing), can you verfiy if this is true :
Hot water soaking for an hour before cutting

this is my first time I hear from a HK$130 sifu's standard procedure, I cannot verify if this is true.

Was there any additional charge for the chicken foot stitch? Was there any other handwork like handmade buttonholes, unfused collars or side gusset (or are they options?)

Those are nice looking crows feet stitching. I don’t know enough about buttonholes but those don’t look like handmade buttonholes. Neverthelesss still looks great!

I have lost some weight lately. My leather jacket tailor added a belt to my leather jacket, it's free of charge. The fitting is so good with a belt.

my cost in 2019:
fabric , spanish lambskin leather (printed leather): HK$1.4k (leather fabric shop in TST)
tailor cost: HK$1k, made in HK
total: HK$2.4k , tailor made leather jacket made in HK.

Re: chicken foot stitch buttons, Wong said I'm his first customer opting for that (didn't charge extra but hard to say in future)

IIRC he usually soaks and dries the fabrics before cutting them

Anyways, I've gotten some sexy vintage check jacketing on 3/f of Mirador. A tag showed 7-digit phone numbers, meaning the fabric must have been shipped to Hong Kong before 1995.

The other day I also bought some suit-length Wain Shiell fabric manufactured between 70s and 80s I believe for ~USD 4 in Sham Shui Po.

Fabric hunting is a good pastime I tell ya.

Anyone mentioned Golden Circle / Premium Fabric Store already? They have an interesting collection of vintage fabric, mostly sold at the flat rate of HKD 300/m (around USD 40 per m) the last time I visited...
