Yes, it’s a John Deere 220SL reel mower that golf courses use to maintain greens and tee boxes. My lawn is at fairway height of 0.5”.

I’m not exactly sure, but I feel like I’ve seen it quite a few places. I also make that association, but not sure if it’s accurate!

It must be the sand and gravel. I'm not sure how common it is in other areas but in South Louisiana the fact that it has been delta for millions of years meant there was no local gravel so the concrete and asphalt was mixed small clam shell dredged out of estuaries. Not sure if they still do that or not.

I've seen crushed oyster shells in concrete around the Chesapeake. Always interesting to see.

You gotta remember this is ancient history but rural restaurants that served oysters would just dump the shells to form parking areas

I always enjoy driving through the part of wisconsin where the roads start to take on a pink/purple cast from the local Baraboo Quartzite that makes it into the gravel/aggregate

I am so confused and have never seen this in my life. I thought maybe it was dirt that had blown onto the street. There are places in the US that have reddish tan concrete roads?

concrete is cement , sand and aggregate ... it costs a lot to truck sand and rock around .
